Are you working on social innovation in energy? On Wednesday 9 June 2021, 09:30-17:00 CEST, we are organizing a workshop in which we provide training for social innovators to see and understand power dynamics in your context, to reflect on working with power strategically, and to feel equipped to apply this in your daily work.
Are you working on social innovations in energy, showing the world what alternative energy futures or practices look like? Do you want to increase your impact by learning about how you can challenge existing power relations, while connecting with peers from across Europe? And would you like to co-create a guide on transformative power for social innovators?
Then we are looking for you! Apply now to join us for a translocal and interactive event on transforming power relations in energy on Wednesday 9th of June 2021, 09:30 – 17:00.
Application deadline: Thursday 20 May
>> Apply by submitting this form by Thursday 20 May <<<
This power lab gathers change-makers and social innovators in energy from across Europe to learn and share insights about power, and connect with each other, to build networks for transformative change. By social innovations in energy we mean new ways of doing, thinking and organizing energy that change social relations. Examples of this include energy cooperatives or local electricity exchange between peers, energy games, participatory experimentation and incubation, as well as innovative financing, or campaigns against non-renewable energy.
Programme
This workshop is part of the SONNET research project, which studies the diversity and processes of social innovations in the energy sector, including power dynamics. During this workshop, we provide training for social innovators to see and understand power dynamics in your context, to reflect on how you might work with this strategically, and to feel equipped to apply this in your daily work.
The power lab is a full-day online workshop and includes four building blocks:
- Recognising power in your context;
- Understanding power dynamics of social innovation in energy;
- Unpacking tensions;
- Designing strategic interventions to increase transformative power.
Preparatory material will be shared ahead of the workshop, and the outcomes will be used to collectively prepare a guide on transformative power for social innovators.
For who?
The call is open to anyone working on social innovation in the energy transition, including entrepreneurs, activists and policy makers, researchers and other curious individuals who are committed to changing energy systems, and want to learn more about power dynamics. The focus of the workshop will be on EU and Horizon 2020 countries, but applicants from outside this region are welcome to apply.
Apply by submitting this form by Thursday 20 May.
Due to limited spaces available, a selection of applicants will be made based on motivation and relevant experience. Successful applicants will be informed as soon as possible in the week of 24 May. Participation in this event is free but registration and commitment to participation is required.
